LR's Own "Stylo" Reps the Midwest at 16 Bars

6/10/05 - LatinRapper.com

Nebraska’s own Stylo (LatinRapper featured artist for Ocober 2004) will represent the Midwest live on stage and before a national TV audience June 20 at 16 Bars Combine, the first in a series of competitions that’s set to change hip-hop forever.

“Out here in Nebraska and across the Midwest, this is what we need, for people to understand that we have some serious talent coming out of the Midwest,” said Stylo. “I’m going to 16 Bars Combine in New York to represent the Midwest, and once they hear what Omaha has to offer, they will love it.

I need everyone’s support, because I’m going to show the people watching 16 Bars Combine just what they been missing out on. So don’t forget to show some love to your boy by signing up at www.16bars.com and voting for me on June 20.”

16 Bars is a groundbreaking movement designed to reconnect hip-hop to its roots by promoting competition and by putting power in the hands of fans. It is a series of 3 competitions featuring hip-hop artists from all over America and beyond. The three 16 Bars shows -- “Combine,” “Phenom,” and “Icon” -- will provide the live and pay-per-view audiences the opportunity to enjoy the hottest talent in hip-hop and to vote on the artist they think is worthy of the title.

All three 16 Bars shows will be judged by the live and pay-per-view audiences using an innovative scoring system that gives them total control of the outcome. The winners of each show will be determined by a groundbreaking scoring system that combines the votes of the live audience (gauged by crowd decibel level inside the venue) with votes cast via text message; votes cast via e-mail (voters must register at www.16bars.com); and votes cast by a panel comprised of local DJs, hip-hop personalities, and a fan selected through an online contest.

The winner of each show will receive a cash prize, and 16 Bars will also make a matching contribution to a charity in the winner’s home community. So if Stylo is victorious, 16 Bars will make an investment in Nebraska on his behalf.

Combine features the hottest underground talent in hip-hop. 16 Bars Combine will take place June 20th at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.  Phenom features up-and-coming hip-hop stars that have recently been signed by major labels and who are getting ready to break out. 16 Bars Phenom will take place September 18th in Atlanta.  Icon will bring together legends of hip-hop. 16 Bars Icon will take place December 29th in Los Angeles.

To reward hard work and talent and to increase competition, the winner of Combine gets to compete at Phenom. The winner of Phenom then gets a crack at the big stage with a place in Icon. So an unsigned artist like Stylo has a shot to take his talent from Omaha to the stage in New York City to a global audience over the course of the three shows.   All three 16 Bars competitions will be broadcast on In-Demand pay-per-view.
