Records Get Grammy Nod

For a second consecutive
year, Latin Hip Hop superstars Akwid garnered an important
Grammy nod in the Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album
category for their Univision Records follow-up album “KOMP
104.9 Radio Compa,” which debuted at No.2 on Billboard’s
Top Latin Albums Chart July 3, 2004.
For AKWID, the year 2004
has represented the consolidation of an unmatched success,
ranging from the accreditation of Latin Platinum Album
status for their follow up album “KOMP 104.9 Radio Compa”,
which sold more than 200,000 units in less than a month.
And sales in excess of 400,000 units to date of their debut
album “Proyecto Akwid”, which garnered them a Latin Gold and
Latin Platinum Album certification, to a 2004 Latin Billboard
Award for Regional Mexican Album of The Year, New Artist.
Furthermore, this year Akwid also received nominations in two
important categories of the 2004 Latin Grammys for Best New
Artist and Best Urban Music Album.

Sergio and Francisco’s talent and the artistic value they have
contributed to Latin music in this country. I would like to

Akwid represents the new sound of Latin alternative music in
the U.S., Puerto Rico and Mexico, where they continue making
waves at an accelerated pace topping radio airplay and sales
charts. Akwid’s talent and music potential has not gone
unnoticed, and recently, the duo snared two nominations for
the upcoming Los Angeles based Que Buena Awards, where they
are nominated for Best Urban Regional Song, for their second
single “Muñeca Fea” (Ugly Doll) and Urban Regional Artist of
the Year. Currently, Akwid is promoting its second single
“Muñeca Fea” and continues a promotional tour throughout the
