Latin Urban Mix '06 in Miami with Alan Solis

“Let’s open this whole day as an Urban Entertainment.” -Alan
Solis
Working as a senior executive for Hennessy Cognac two years,
marketing executive Alan Solis has been responsible for
producing their Calle 8 events this past year. With over 10
years of experience, Solis has executed event marketing for
topnotch companies like Heineken, Cingular, Johnny Walker
and Sears.
“Now, I’m trying to find ways of coming out with my own
properties,” said Solis. After discussing possibilities and
holding a number of meetings and events with a friend, Solis
organized the Latin Urban Mix ‘06, a full-day event that
allows Latinos who don’t have the platform to showcase their
talents to do so right there in Miami, whether it be music,
fashion or art. “We were thinking it’d be a good idea to get
a DJ conference with the DJs as the focus, but also a chance
to open the floor for up and coming entertainers to become
known and make a name for themselves,” explained Solis.
As entertainment flows through dozens of areas and subjects
such as photography, music, film and dance, this year’s
Latin Urban Mix will focus on urban fashion, music and art.
“I want to create this experience for the people who don’t
have the means to expose themselves.” The Mix’s day
schedule includes art, fashion and music demonstrations for
corporate majors, other entertainers and fans, all leading
up to the main event: the honoring of the selected DJs held
during evening hours. “The first goal of this event is to
honor the DJs,” explained Solis. “As a secondary focus, we
have the music, the fashion, the art, the breakdancing.”
During this time, a corporate panel will be presented, along
with a DJ panel discussing how they choose their music and
what the current trends are. Among the DJs being
congratulated are DJ Kazzanova, DJ Camilo,
Tony Touch, Prostyle and
DJ Sama. The DJs
would be geared toward the Latin market, emphasizing
thoughts and reactions on the movement and culture of
Latino-America. As urban icons, the main idea of this
compilation is to propose their titles as icons of tomorrow.
“The main idea of this event is to put focus on the fact
that a Latino DJ went on Hot 97 and played a reggaeton track
on there,” said Solis. “We have to be able to say, ‘Wow,
thank you for doing that.’”
Purposely hosting the event during the infamous Calle 8,
Solis feels that many major corporations will be present,
along with record labels and artists. Among confirmed guests
attending are
Voltio and Zion y Lennox. The
event takes place on Saturday, March 11, 2006 in the heart
of South Beach, Miami, the classic Art Deco Albion Hotel.
Festivities begin at 10 a.m.
