The best documentary on Riker's Island is hand's down the HBO one "Lock Up: The Prisoner's of Riker's Island", but I just came across another one that's more based on individual stories from past inmates who did 10-15 year bids including Pistol Pete from Terror Squad. A lot of focus on people catching buck fifties, I've known what an ox was since the 90's, but now I finally got what Smoothe tha Hustler and his brother meant by the" C74 Ox Carrier" reference on Broken Language.

That is f*cking bugged out. Canadian prisons look like resorts compared to U.S. prisons. I ain't never gonna go to jail, that's word life.

The bleakest prison in the U.S. is a short drive from where I stay, but Rikers is obviously a place where you don't want to go in terms of violence from inmates or C.O.'s. Man, the prisons in all of Latin America are disturbing, not just out in Brazil. My boy spent 24 hours in a Salvadoran prison (over a fuckin' joint b), said it was hands down the most disturbing sight he's ever bore witness to. I got cousins in Guate rotting away in these piss-scented hellholes, I don't even wanna imagine the sort of sh!t they must be going through at this point.
You got a link to that HBO documentary? I'm fascinated by the whole prison culture and the hosility between prisonners/C.O.'s and between the prisonners themselves. -------------------- |
